Local schools prepare for new Illinois drug education requirements
VIENNA, Ill. — It's now the law in Illinois that all schools must teach students about the dangers of fentanyl. Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed House Bill 4219 on Friday. Along with teaching about fentanyl, it also requires that students in grades nine through 12 be assessed on their drug education.

Thacker steps down from Indiana Department of Homeland Security
The state’s executive director of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Joel Thacker, will be stepping down to accept a role as the new fire chief for Carmel. According to the Carmel release, Thacker will start on Sept. 3. Gov. Eric Holcomb said that the city “and Mayor (Sue) Finkham are fortunate to have him.”
