Unit 3 Board Has a “Handful” of Items on its Agenda
(Palestine) – The Palestine Unit 3 Board meets this evening and they have a “handful” of items on the agenda. They are set to appoint a representative for the IASB Delegate Assembly, review the Grade School and High School Handbooks, accept bids for the sale of maintenance items, and recognize groups who raised funds under the district name. The Unit 3 Board will also hold a closed session to review and consider employment. The Palestine Unit 3 Board meets this evening at 6 p.m. in the High School Cafeteria.
Wet and Rainy Weather Remains in the Forecast
(Undated) – Wet and stormy weather appears to be here for the rest of the day. According to this morning’s “Hazardous Weather Outlook” from the National Weather Service, scattered thunderstorms will affect the area throughout the day today and this evening. They say the round of afternoon storms could contain “damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.” The weather service says scattered storms will linger south of I-70 tomorrow. However, severe weather is not expected. As a result of the heavy rain, the National Weather Service has issued a “Flood Watch” in effect through tomorrow morning. CMH Gift Shop Gets Update and New Name
(Undated) – The “Gift Shop” at Crawford Memorial Hospital has undergone a “refresh, facelift and a rebranding.”. That was Rick Wilson with the CMH Auxiliary. Wilson reminds the public that the “Unique Boutique” and auxiliary are non-profit organizations and all of the proceeds from the gift shop and auxiliary fundraisers go back into the Crawford County Community. Wilson is inviting everyone to stop by and check out the “Unique Boutique” at Crawford Memorial Hospital. The Robinson Chamber is planning a ribbon cutting later this year.

In Pennsylvania Saturday, a Trump rally attendee was shot and killed and Trump was injured after a would-be assassin opened fire minutes into the former president’s speech to a crowd in an open air field. CHICAGO (AP) — Storms spawning multiple tornado reports blew through Iowa, Illinois — including Chicago — and Indiana on Monday, downing trees and power poles and cutting power to more than 460,000 customers and businesses. A woman in Indiana died after a tree fell onto a home, authorities said.

Unit 1 Board Meets Tonight
(Hutsonville) – The Hutsonville Unit 1 Board meets this evening and they have a light agenda. On the “Consent Agenda,” the board is set to review the Treasurer’s Reports and approve bills, the disposition of minutes, and approve the ERBA Head Start agreement. In “New Business,” the board will accept resignations, discuss the “Back to School Bash” on August 13th, a Teacher Institute on August 14th, and the first of day school on August 15th. The Hutsonville Unit 1 Board meets at 6 p.m. in the Commons.
Severe weather slams central Illinois, again
For the second time in as many nights, damaging winds caused widespread damage and power outages. The storms Monday night resulted in staggering wind gusts. A corn crib was destroyed by a 105 mile per hour wind gust near Camp Grove in Marshall County. South Pekin clocked a 78 mile per hour wind gust, Elmwood 71 mph and Lewistown 70 mph. Wind gusts of 60 to 70 miles per hour were common over most of the area. Several communities reported wind damage with the main problem being trees and tree limbs knocking down power lines and causing roads and streets to be blocked. We’ll get a better idea of damage when it’s daylight. The Monday night storms hit as some communities were cleaning up from storms Sunday night which caused damage in Henry and Bloomington.
