Suburban July Fourth celebrations include parades, big fireworks show
Southwest suburban Palos Heights held its annual Fourth of July parade on Thursday, following several other Independence Day events Wednesday night.This parade down Harlem Avenue brought out the entire community, with kids, parents, and grandparents lining both sides of the street.All of them came out to enjoy the holiday, and many were decked out in red, white, and blue. Firefighters led the parade with trucks and sirens. Some of the first-timers of the parade had to wear headphones to handle the noise. Convicted felon sentenced again on gun charges in Peoria
PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been sentenced to 55 months in prison, along with three years of supervised release for being a felon in possession of a firearm. 39-year-old Alan Collins was previously convicted of felony offenses in 2004 and 2005 in Cook County, along with two prior federal convictions for firearm possession in the Central Districts of Illinois in 2008 and 2014, according to the Department of Justice.
