A thirty-foot-tall mural “was commissioned by SkyArt, an arts nonprofit that runs free kids programs for its second location in Garfield Park. The center will anchor a new neighborhood arts corridor in a block that has been historically violent. The project is part of ‘Next Stop: Chicago,’ seven public art installations and events funded by Gertie, the cultural consultancy group founded by Abby Pucker, daughter of Gigi Pritzker and a cousin of Illinois Governor Pritzker. Gertie raised more than $400,000 to spotlight artists and arts organizations working in historically underdeveloped neighborhoods along the CTA Green Line train. ‘Next Stop: Chicago’ will launch during the DNC and will be one of many art happenings, some coordinated and others not, to capitalize on the city’s moment on the international stage.” Troyli “is one of the more commercially successful among the group and brings a certain buzz factor to the operation.”

State Representative Kam Buckner, whose district stretches from the Gold Coast to Hyde Park, loves the Lakefront. But he doesn’t love the current design of Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable Lake Shore Drive. He thinks it’s too fast and too big, and that it needs to change to better move people around the city and adapt to a warming climate.
Draft Pick Profile: Ryan Gallagher Bringing a Lot of Movement and Quality Pitches with Him to the Pros
The 2024 MLB Draft was a little bit weird. Heading into the draft, it was clear that the Cubs were in need of pitching in the minor leagues. Injuries ravaged the system and people were surprised that the first five picks happened to be bats. When the Cubs selected pitcher Ryan Gallagher from the University of California Santa Barbara, I was pleasantly surprised that he was still available. UCSB is sort of known as a pitching factory, and the fact that the Cubs got the ace of that staff was a gift from the Draft Gods.

The chaos of the 1968 DNC: Retired CBS Chicago reporter John Drummond remembers
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Fifty-six years ago, the events of one week in August stained Chicago's image around the world—anti-Vietnam War protests, and the police response to them, during the Democratic National Convention.John "Bulldog" Drummond was there for it all. He is known to generations of Chicagoans as a television news legend at CBS Chicago, WBBM-TV, Channel 2—famously covering the organized crime beat and all sorts of other crooks and capers, hoodlums and heists, scalawags and seedy enterprises—and also filling in on the anchor desk or on sports. The San Francisco 49ers Will Trade Trent Williams to the Chicago Bears
In more drama coming from the San Francisco 49ers, offensive lineman Trent Williams is holding out of training camp alongside Brandon Aiyuk. Unlike Aiyuk, Williams isn’t seeking an extension to his current contract but is looking for guaranteed money. At this point in his career, Williams knows any given snap could be his last, yet he remains arguably the best tackle in the league. Williams, who just turned 36 years old, has three seasons left on his contract, but none of it is guaranteed. He is scheduled to make solid money over the next three years, with base salaries of $20.05 million, $22.5 million, and $32.21 million, respectively, putting him near the top of the market. However, he wants reassurance. If the 49ers cannot make that happen, the Chicago Bears should consider a deal to bring Williams in to protect Caleb Williams‘ blindside.
