BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Panama City commissioners made some changes to their meeting schedule on Tuesday.

Commission meetings usually take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 8 a.m. Some residents asked commissioners to change the meeting time because they couldn’t attend the morning meetings during work hours.

Commissioners agreed to push the meeting time to 4 p.m. only on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Panama City mayor Rohan said it’s important everyone has an opportunity to attend their meetings.

“I hope we get more participation. I want more people to come. I want more people to see the process. It’s not always smooth and pretty. We have some arguments up there, and people need to see it, and they need to be able to voice their opinion,” Rohan said.

Rohan also said the meeting time change is temporary for now. If there’s enough public attendance at the afternoon meetings, commissioners will vote to make the time change permanent.
