BAY COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Panama City commissioners are moving forward with repairing Lannie Rowe Park.

They approved Royal American Construction to build a multi-use path around the perimeter of the park. Commissioners said Hurricane Michael plus faulty underground infrastructure resulted in the disrepair of the path. The park also has stormwater drainage issues.

Commissioner Jonathan Hayes said the park requires a lot of TLC, and the multi-use path is a good place to start.

“We can clean up the old sidewalk that’s busted up. City staff will go in there and do some of the cleaning up in the right of way. Then we have the contractor, again that’s already mobilized right there, clean up that entire circle and install that sidewalk so it’ll complement the Cherry Street roadway and streetscapes improvement that we’re doing through there,” Hayes said.

Construction of the path will cost about $40,000. Officials hope to have it finished in a couple of months.
