PARKER CITY, Ind. — A Parker City man took a chance by asking his boss for his job back after allegedly disappearing for three weeks. When his boss shot him down, the man reportedly retaliated by stealing his now ex-boss’s pickup truck.

Chance Tressler, 28, was arrested on Monday morning after Muncie police officers pulled over a white Dodge Ram and found him in the driver’s seat. Officers knew the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Randolph County.

Tressler is charged with one count of auto theft, a Level 6 felony.

According to court documents, after Tressler was taken into custody the owner of the stolen truck was called to the scene by police officers.

The truck owner told officers that Tressler was his ex-employee but claimed the man vanished from the job and hadn’t been seen in approximately three weeks. On Sunday night, Tressler allegedly called up his former boss to ask for his job back but was turned down.

Not long after hanging up on Tressler, the truck owner said he awoke to the sound of his Dodge Ram’s engine firing up and the truck driving off. The truck owner called Tressler back and the former employee allegedly admitted to being inside the stolen truck.

Police ended up spotting the Dodge Ram on Walnut Street in Muncie and pulling the vehicle over.

Tressler could face up to 2.5 years in prison on a Level 6 felony.
