Tacoma's Art on the Ave Showcasing Local Creativity This Weekend
The 24th-annual Art on the Ave festival is set from noon-7 p.m. this Sunday on Tacoma's 6th Avenue, between Alder and State streets. The 6th Avenue Business District-produced event will host 240 arts and food vendors in addition to musicians and all-ages activities representing the diversity of the South Sound area, a release said.

One-Year-Old cat With Life-Threatening Postpartum Complications Receives Critical Care at Local Humane Society
On July 8, a 1-year-old female cat was brought to the Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County after being discovered by a community member near an apartment complex dumpster. The cat, now named Marzipan, was lethargic and unable to move, suffering from severe mastitis, a painful infection of the mammary glands that can lead to life-threatening sepsis.
