Theatre Review: ‘The Wolves’ at Spotlighters Theatre
A lot of people remember high school as the best time of their lives. In “The Wolves” at Spotlighters Theatre, we realize that high schoolers are dealing with big issues, whether those are personal issues or events in the world around them. This one-act play by Sarah DeLappe premiered Off-Broadway in 2016 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2017. The production, broken up into five pre-game soccer practices, shows a tight-knit group of soccer players who speak candidly and crudely about anything and everything. The girls’ language, details like pre-game warmups and ball passes, and the intimate setting of the Spotlighters Theatre create a level of authenticity which draws you in.
