State Prepares for Big Blaze: WA Officials Mobilize Resources Across Region
If there's a big fire anytime soon in the region the state is ready. State officials are gathering resources and placing them in strategic areas in case of a big blaze. Officials from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources say they've sent equipment and firefighters to Kittitas, Yakima, and Klickitat Counties. The three counties in the state that state officials say are primed for a wildfire after multiple days of hot, dry, and windy conditions and are presently under National Weather Service Red Flag Warnings.
Update: Bench Lake Fire near Stanley at 80 acres, Redfish Lake Complex closed
BOISE, Idaho — Sawtooth National Recreation closed the Redfish Lake Complex in response to the growing Bench Lake Fire that is eight miles south of Stanley. As of July 13 the Forest Service reported to KTVB that the fire had grown to 80 acres and the terrain makes it difficult to bring in ground resources other than crews. additionally, Commander Steve Shaw, will assume command of operations July 14 at 6 p.m.

Chelan County Pioneer Fire now 14% contained
CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — According to the Southeast Region-Department of Natural Resources, the Pioneer Fire near Lake Chelan is now 14% contained. Officials say over the past three days, helicopters have dropped 420,000 gallons of water on the fire. NCW Libraries seeks community input for Cashmere Library redesign after relocation
CASHMERE — NCW Libraries has announced plans for a community town hall event on August 7 to discuss the relocation of the Cashmere Library to the Cashmere Riverside Center.
