AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Groff Park is without working water in the bathroom and spray pad for two separate reasons. Jasmine Errico headed to Groff Park in Amherst on Monday to beat the heat at the spray pad with little ones in town only to find the water oasis to be out of service.

It was pointed out the other day that we are already on the downside of summer. With the recent temperatures, that’s hard to believe, but the summer equinox was June 20 – the earliest it’s been in 228 years – so we are indeed already three weeks past summer’s midpoint.
Salsa Sal Pa Fuera kicks off seventh year at Riverfront Park in Springfield
It was hot at Riverfront Park on this afternoon — and only part of it was the 90-degree temperature. Salsa Sal Pa Fuera rolled over the city of Springfield on Sunday with the infectious — and very loud — beat of the Caribbean on the opening day of a summer-long celebration of Puerto Rico and Cuban music.
Beer Nut: Fieldcrest Brewing features old English ales and cask beer
Adam Field of Wilbraham’s Fieldcrest Brewing Company initially started homebrewing for a rather unusual reason: to help a friend who had a medical condition. “I had been drinking craft beer since the mid ′90s and started home brewing in 2012 after my friend was diagnosed with celiac disease. For those who don’t know, this is an intolerance to gluten and meant he couldn’t drink beer,” he said. “There were a few gluten-free beers available at the time, but they were expensive and not that good.”
The Big E Sip & Slide FUNdraiser is back with more sliding and dining
Instead of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, try West Springfield’s wine, dine and slides at the annual Sip & Slide FUNdraiser hosted by The Big E. The event will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 and is limited to people 21 or older. Attendees will receive bags, wine and craft beer, live music from Party of 2, Big E merchandise and more, according to The Big E.

HOLYOKE – NAMI Western Massachusetts (The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts) announces Mindfulness Yoga with Kateri’s Third Anniversary yoga series. This class is designed as a gentle, therapeutic yoga class with beginners in mind. It is easy-paced, helps reduce stress and anxiety, and aids in the management of mental health symptoms. Kateri is a certified yoga instructor. This series will be four weeks starting on Monday, July 29th and continuing Aug. 5, 12, and concluding on Aug. 19. Come celebrate Kateri’s Third Anniversary on Monday, July 29 with a free yoga class. The remaining three classes are available for just $30. Partial proceeds go to NAMI-WM. Registration is required.
