Famous Cheektowaga Restaurant Turning into Tim Hortons
Some people are not happy. In fact, they are ticked that one of the most famous, long-standing restaurants are turning into a Tim Hortons. Hot Dog Heaven, on the corner of William and Harlem shut down a little while back and it has been sitting there with tons of workers going in for renovations. Well, if you didn't know the sign is up now. A Tim Hortons will be going in there right at the corner.

Owl trapped in manure lagoon is rescued
ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. — A baby screech owl was rescued earlier this week in Cheektowaga after it left its home before it was ready. Now comes another owl rescue, which also happened in Erie County. An owl that was trapped in a manure lagoon was rescued with help from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Messinger Woods Wildlife Care and Education Center.

Lake Michigan shipwreck of 19th-century schooner listed in National Register of Historic Places
ALGOMA, Wis. (WBAY) - The shipwreck of a Great Lakes trading schooner from the 19th century has been listed as a historic place. The Trinidad is a schooner constructed in 1867 in Grand Island, New York, and operated in the Great Lakes until 1881. It was used for coal and grain trades and was scheduled to start working in lumber trading before it sank. It was a canaller ship, a type of vessel designed for the unique task of traversing the Great Lakes and Canada’s Welland Canal locks. It was designed to carry the maximum amount of cargo through the locks.-

Williamsville’s 12 Gates Brewing has closed their satellite location in Ellicottville, 12 Gates of EVL, located at 14 Washington St. In a statement posted to their social media, 12 Gates said that they will not be renewing the lease for 12 Gates of EVL and thanked their customers for supporting the location. They add that any unused 12 Gates of EVL gift cards will be honored at our Williamsville taproom.
