The Moss

Crab Cake Cook-off
6 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Some of the area’s top chefs will be preparing their own special crab cake recipes. A team of discerning judges will sample the crab cakes and rate them on taste, sauce, and presentation. The cost for this event is $75 with proceeds going to help The Arc Gateway support their numerous programs. More info: arc-gateway.org.

Moon Landing Celebration
6 p.m. Thursday, July 18. Pensacola MESS Hall, 418 E. Wright St. The Pensacola MESS Hall is hosting a celebration of the first landing of people on the moon. Attendees will enjoy activities as well as a chance to explore the MESS Hall with other adults. In tribute to the age-old myth of the moon being made of cheese, refreshments will include cheese platters and charcuterie boards. Additionally, along with wine, organizers will serve Moonwalk cocktails, purportedly the first thing Armstrong and Aldrin sipped on their return to Earth. For ages 21 and older. Perdido Key Fishing Rodeo
Friday through Sunday, July 19 through 21. Entertainer Bait and Tackle, 13506 Perdido Key Drive. The Perdido Key Fishing Rodeo is a multi-species recreational fishing tournament with four inshore and four offshore divisions: speckled trout, redfish, mangrove snapper, flounder, red snapper, vermillion snapper, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel. Each division will pay out first, second and third place. A portion of the proceeds from the event will support the military appreciation initiatives of the Perdido Area Chamber Foundation. Gallery Night
5 p.m. Friday, July 19. Downtown Pensacola. Gallery Night Pensacola is a nonprofit organization with a dedicated goal of inspiring culture, engagement, and the practice of arts of all types in an entertaining event for all ages and walks of life. Jefferson St. In Disney's Descendants, the offspring of some of Disney's most notorious villains are invited to attend Auradon Prep, a school for the children of heroes and royalty. Mal, the daughter of Maleficent, leads a group of misfit friends - Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Carlos, son of Cruella de Vil; and Jay, son of Jafar - as they navigate fitting in and discovering their identities. However, when Mal realizes that being good isn't as easy as it seems, she must decide where her loyalties lie and whether to follow in her mother's wicked footsteps or forge her own path. Running of the Bulls
8 a.m. Saturday, July 20. Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St. Seville Quarter is once again recreating the “Running of the Bulls” in the streets of historic downtown Pensacola. This fun, family-friendly event is Pensacola’s version of the Festival de San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain which was made famous by author Ernest Hemingway’s 1926 novel “The Sun Also Rises”, and a tribute to Pensacola’s Spanish heritage. The event’s beneficiary is the West Florida Roller Derby, a 501c3 non-profit organization and member of WFTDA, a women’s roller derby club that promotes and fosters the sport of women’s flat track roller derby. Monster Jam

Boys Like Girls

Palafox St. If it's true what they say — that there's something in the dirty water of Boston's Charles River — then Boys Like Girls drank up. Little else could explain the band’s meteoric rise after forming as teenagers in 2004. In the modern age a story like theirs is designed in boardrooms over speakerphone. The story of Boys Like Girls, however, was forged from the very beginning in the damp basements, garages, and VFW halls of the Massachusetts coastline over tattered lyric books, guitars, drums, and a collective dream.
