    Overnight shooting in Peoria leaves one person dead

    A man has died after an overnight shooting in Peoria.

    At around 3:39 a.m. on July 23, the Peoria Police Department responded to two Shot Spotter alerts, indicating a total of 20 rounds fired in the 2500 block of West Garden Street.

    Officers found the 31-year-old victim “lying in the road with multiple gunshot wounds,” according to a press release. The man died, despite officers’ attempt to save him.

    The Peoria County Coroner will release the victim’s identity and cause of death later.

    Peoria police do not have information on a suspect yet. The investigation is ongoing.
