Consulting firm presents report on Quail Hollow Resort property in Concord Township
A Cleveland-based consulting firm recently presented Concord Township officials with a look at potential uses for the closed Quail Hollow Resort property. Silverlode Consulting President Dennis McAndrew discussed a number of economic and structural barriers to reopening the 11080 Concord-Hambden Road site as a hotel before discussing the use options. He also presented ways that the township could try to encourage redevelopment.
Mentor High School hosts Ohio State pep rally
Seeing the Mentor High School gym flooded with a sea of enthusiastic fans wearing scarlet and gray is nothing new, but July 23 was something special. Mentor hosted a pep rally for Ohio State University, which chose the high school as one of several stops on an informational and educational tour of Northeast Ohio to connect with incoming students and prospective future Buckeyes and spread the OSU message beyond the sprawling campus in Columbus.
Chipotle slated for The Shoppes at Willoughby Hills
The Willoughby Hills Planning Commission recently approved split lots at The Shoppes at Willoughby Hills as part of its redevelopment. Located at 28301 Chardon Road, the redevelopment is being funded by J. Scott Scheel, the Plaza and Shoppes owner. The city has since credited him and his team, including former City Council President Ray Somich, for their vision to reinvigorate the corner of Chardon and Bishop roads.
Willowick pool officially renamed after Martin E. Guzauskas
The Willowick Recreation Department recently hosted a ceremony renaming Manry Pool to Martin E. Guzauskas Pool. For 46 years, Guzauskas served the city and its residents with dedication, enthusiasm and distinction, according to Willowick City Council. He demonstrated a lifelong commitment to Willowick’s aquatic programs and the development of lifesaving skills.
