NFL running back Saquon Barkley is staying lean on the football field but his bank account is bursting. Barkley, who signed a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in March, is set to earn $37.75 million under his new deal.

Barkley’s deal with the Philadelphia Eagles includes a $11.6 million signing bonus, with $26 million of his contract guaranteed.

As a new member of the Eagles, Barkley told reporters last month during organized team activities that he feels like “a rookie all over again” despite six years in the league.

“I’m excited to be here with this team,” Barkley said. “I feel like we can do something special. That’s a ways, ways away, so just continue to come in one day at a time and try to get better.”

But with a current estimated net worth of $32 million, Barkley is anything but new to the game of football. The running back, who will be playing alongside heavy hitters such as A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, and Jalen Hurts, has amassed his wealth from on-field earnings and endorsements from companies such as Pepsi, Silk, Nike, Toyota, Visa, Hulu and Dunkin.

In 2021, Barkley announced on “The Best Business Show” that he was accepting his endorsement payments in bitcoin, a move that several other athletes have taken to enhance their wealth.

    Barkley, No Stranger To Pennsylvania

Barkley played football at Pennsylvania State University, finishing with the Nitanny Lions record for the most rushing and total touchdowns. During his three years in Happy Valley, Barkley became the only player in Penn State history to accumulate 3,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving years. He is also only one of four players to achieve this record in the Big Ten. Barkley earned several distinguishing titles during his collegiate career including Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and Big Ten Running Back of the Year in 2016 and 2017, his final college season.

In 2018, he was chosen second overall in the NFL draft by the New York Giants. Barkley’s college football career was a great training ground as he hit the ground running once he joined the NFL. His previous four-year contract with the NY Giants was worth $31 million and included a $20 million signing bonus. In his six years with the New York Giants, Barkley ran 5,211 yards and scored 35 touchdowns. He has $48.7 million in career NFL earnings.
