Fans Spreading Major NBA Accusation After Paul George's Signing With 76ers

Unlike the other professional sports that often have some underwhelming free agency periods, the NBA is always a spectacle.
We all remember LeBron James' "decision" to take his talents to Miami, or Kevin Durant breaking the league when he signed with the Golden State Warriors. This year's marquee move didn't happen on national television like James' or break in the middle of the day like Durant's. Instead, the report that Paul George was leaving the Los Angeles Clippers to form a super team with Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers, was dropped in the middle of the night.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that George was expected to sign with the 76ers on a four-year $212 million max deal. A move that can certainly help the 76ers make it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2001, and can also change who are the title favorites when next season rolls around.
However, the internet sleuths are at it again, as they are convinced there was tampering in play when it comes to how George ended up signing with the 76ers.

Unlike in years past when a massive deal was signed moments after free agency opened, George did in fact meet with teams during the free agency window and his deal was announced after. In fact, it was reported that he was courted by both the Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic as well as the 76ers. However, his decision may have already been made according to one fan theory that suggests he was going to Philadelphia all along.
In what turned out to be his final game with the Clippers in their opening-round loss, George was wearing the "Philly' Kobe 4s.
A fashion statement that has led to many fans questioning if this was somehow tampering, with one fan writing "Does this count as tampering?" while another said , "Wow we should have all seen this coming".
While this likely doesn't fall under the tampering guidelines by any means, it was clear that the 76ers were always eyeing George. Something we saw when Embiid essentially made a free-agency pitch to George when they were both on ESPN's panel for the NBA Finals which could technically be considered as tampering by the league.
Regardless, the 76ers would gladly take any sort of fine to win a title. According to FanDuel , following the addition of George, the 76ers now are tied for having the third-best odds of winning the NBA title next season.
