ESPN shared their 2024 preseason tight end rankings and Philadelphia Eagles' Dallas Goedert came in at No. 7 on the list.

One anonymous NFL official even went as far as to say that Goedert possesses the same qualities as San Francisco 49ers star George Kittle.

"[He's] one of the few that can block at a high level and still receive," a high-ranking NFL official said, via ESPN's Jeremy Fowler . "He's a lot like [George] Kittle in that way."

Being compared to a five-time Pro Bowl tight end like Kittle is quite the compliment.

Goedert's Numbers Took a Nose Dive in 2023

Goedert's overall production dropped in 2023, averaging 10 yards per catch on 59 total receptions. That's in comparison to his 13.8 YPC from the previous two years.

A lot of that had to do with the Eagles' late-season collapse, but Goedert still showed up as a blocker on multiple occasions. And he should only be able to embrace both his pass-catching and blocking strengths under the Eagles' new offensive coordinator Kellen Moore this fall.

It's not always easy trying to get looks when you have a roster stacked with talent, starting with wide receivers AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, along with freshly signed dual-threat running back Saquon Barkley, but Goedert thinks the new offense will work out in his favor.

"He's been doing a great job of just making the offense make sense and we kind of changed up the reads and different things like that throughout," Goedert said, via the Philadelphia Inquirer . "I feel like it'll play in favor of the tight end, the quick game a little bit, getting back to the pivots, the sticks that I caught earlier in my career that went away a little bit.

"I'm really excited for how he uses the tight end and how he feels like they can be a big part of the offense and help win games."

Last year, Goedert hauled in 59 passes for 592 yards and three touchdowns, best for third on the team.

Expect those numbers to spike back up under Moore in 2024.
