New Footage Reveals Giants GM's Four-Word Guarantee After Saquon Barkley Exit

The New York Giants losing Saquon Barkley probably didn't hurt half as bad as them losing him to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The latest "Hard Knocks: Offseason with the New York Giants" episode went behind the scenes of the Giants' front office the moment they lost their Pro Bowl running back to their NFC East division rival.

Barkley played on the franchise tag in 2023, and a year later, after once again failing to agree on an extension with the Giants, he was given the opportunity to test free agency.

That enabled the Eagles to get involved and outbid the Giants for Barkley's services.

"We're gonna be fine," Schoen assured Mara in the "Hard Knocks" clip.

Leading up to Barkley leaving the Giants, another clip caught Mara admitting he'd have a tough time sleeping if Barkley went to Philly. One has to wonder how he's sleeping these days with Barkley wearing an Eagles uniform and training camp right around the corner.

The Giants signed veteran running back Devin Singletary in free agency in hopes he could help replace Barkley's production in the offensive backfield. Singletary recorded 898 rushing yards and four touchdowns with the Houston Texans last season.

Meanwhile, Barkley rushed for 962 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games. That kind of production isn't easily replaced, especially when it came behind a Giants' offensive line that struggled last season.

It could take more than just Singletary to help fill that void.
