Ravens Provide Eagles Solid First Test in New-Look Defense

The Baltimore Ravens run a downhill offensive system that has been one of the more dominant in the NFL over the last few seasons.

It's great for any defense to get some practice work against them - especially with a group as young as the Philadelphia Eagles defense.

While stars like Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry are probably not going to be playing in the opening preseason game for Baltimore, there's still plenty of reason to expect that the Ravens could give the Eagles the kind of look they need at this point.

Specifically, due to Josh Johnson and the likes of Devin Leary expected to play during the week, the Eagles have a chance to not only face a pocket-passing quarterback with a downhill running scheme but also a scrambling quarterback with plenty of pre-snap movement.

The more looks this young group gets with different offensive systems, the better prepared they will be for the start of the season.

That includes the likes of the young Georgia Bulldog players like Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Nolan Smith. If the trio of pass rushers can develop into a cohesive unit in the NFL, the Eagles defense would be that much better in the long run.

And it could all start in the coming week against Baltimore.
