Jalen Hurts Shuts Down ESPN Report: 'Why Is It Relevant Now?'

ESPN's latest report about the details that surrounded the Philadelphia Eagles' collapse to end the season in 2023 may have shocked some, but it's business as usual at the NovaCare Complex.

Speaking to reporters after practice Wednesday, Hurts was asked a particular question in regards to the report stating that he went to defensive coordinator Wink Martindale to see how the former Giants coordinator used his blitzes to confuse the Eagles offense.

Hurts' response? A total shutdown of the question entirely.

"That was so long ago. Why is it relevant now?" Hurts questioned.

Tim McManus, the ESPN reporter who broke the story, chimed in with his response saying he was looking to provide context to the story of how the 2023 season ended, and what the Eagles are doing now to make sure a collapse like that doesn't happen again.

In fairness to ESPN's report, the Eagles were not really pictured in a bad light here. They were seen (including Hurts) as a group turning the page entirely.

In Hurts' defense, though, none of this is really relevant to the goal of competing for a Super Bowl in 2024. While the Martindale story is cool to see how committed Hurts is, it doesn't really affect the 2024 team.

Especially at this time in training camp.
