LEBANON, Mo. — Charges have been reduced under a plea agreement for a woman accused of shooting her ex-son-in-law and his girlfriend over a child custody agreement.

According to online court documents, 49-year-old Beckie Lucille Stalder entered an Alford plea on July 22 under a plea agreement. The agreement reduced Stalder’s charges from two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action to four counts of second-degree assault.

A defendant who enters an Alford plea does not admit guilt, but concedes that evidence would likely lead to a conviction.

Stalder is accused of shooting her ex-son-in-law and his girlfriend in 2019 . Both victims survived.

Law enforcement said Stalder was frustrated by an ongoing custody arrangement for her grandchildren.

Stalder’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2024.
