During a recent stop in Phoenix to chat with The Morning Mess , DJ Snake filled the morning show crew in about unreleased music, talked about how the Peso Pluma collab came about because of socks, discussed his love for Cardi B , dislike for Tomorrowland, his opinion on the Drake / Kendrick Lamar feud, and so much more.

A bit into their conversation Snake revealed that he learned his favorite Spanish curse word from Cardi B, and went on to note how much he loves her, saying, “she’s like the nicest and the realest artist I ever worked with. It was like insane.”

Next getting into his Peso Pluma collab, “Teka,” Snake shared the story of how the two linked up.

“I was in Las Vegas… shopping, I was buying socks to be honest. So I'm buying socks and I hear that Mexican song playing in the back,” he recalled. “So I'm like, that's really dope… let me shazam this.” Turns out the track was Peso Pluma, whom Snake admitted “he’d never heard about,” adding, “but his voice is amazing.”

“So I went back to the hotel and I did my research,” he continued. After noticing a couple of friends were following him on Instagram, he asked them to link him up with Peso. And well… we know the rest.

After the morning show crew brought up his Tomorrowland diss at EDC, Snake joked, “that wasn’t me that was AI,” before delving into his stance on the festivals. “I have the right to say what I prefer, right? So I love EDC Vegas, the energy is like crazy and it's just magic. And Tomorrowland, you know, I never really had fun, like it was really disappointing.”

After naming JAY-Z as the best rapper in the game in his opinion, Snake discussed the most buzzed Hip-Hop current event — Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar . And in Snake’s opinion, though the majority named K-Dot the winner, he’s not worried about Drake being phased out one bit. “Drake been hot, for like for maybe 10-15 years,” he said. Noting that whatever spot he’s found himself in, can be quickly remedied with one “hot song.”

“Drake is a machine, you know, that dude is like an alien,” he continued. “People saying that Drake is over or whatever, come on, man, he's gonna drop one song and the whole entire world is gonna be dancing on it.”

Snake also clued us in on some archived collabs that will sadly never come out because of music industry “politics." Including a follow up to his big collab with Justin Bieber and a Bad Bunny track that will never be, because The Beatnuts sample of “Watch Out Now" didn't clear. Insert sad tear emoji here.
