The Phoenix Mercury had a pair of special guests inside Footprint Center during their Monday home game versus the visiting Connecticut Sun, with Phoenix Suns rookies Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro there to catch the action.

Dunn was selected by the Suns as the 2024 NBA Draft’s 28th overall pick in the first round. Ighodaro, on the other hand, was taken by the Portland Trail Blazers in the second round (40th overall) before being acquired via a trade by the Suns.

Dunn and Ighodaro, however, were not able to see the Mercury pull off a win, with Brittney Griner and company absorbing an 83-72 loss.

But speaking of Griner, Dunn and Ighodaro must have been impressed with how the Mercury star played. Griner had 21 points on 9/17 shooting from the floor. Unfortunately for the Suns rookies, they were not able to see Diana Taurasi in action, with the veteran sidelined with back soreness.

Dunn played two seasons with the Virginia Cavaliers before the 6-8 guard turned pro. He averaged 5.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks during his time with the Hoos. As for Ighodaro, who is a 6-9 forward, he spent four years playing for the Marquette Golden Eagles, averaging 9.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in college overall.
