On Wednesday, July 3, at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Phoenix Mercury will travel to Texas to take on the last place Dallas Wings. The Mercury are coming off a close loss to the Indiana Fever and will look to bounce back with a win.

The Mercury released their latest injury report for the game on Tuesday afternoon, and a surprising name appeared on it. Center Brittney Griner has been listed as questionable due to "personal reasons."

Back in April, Brittney and her wife, Cherelle Griner, announced that they were expecting their first child together . The couple also revealed that they anticipate the child will be born in July.

Brittney and Cherelle became engaged in 2018 and got married in 2019.

Although nothing has been made official, the recent news and timeline suggest that Griner's 'questionable' status could be due to the birth of their first child.

WNBA fans are speculating that the above rumor is true and taking to social media to express their thoughts.

"BG personal?? Is it BABY TIME???!"

"Aw man, it could be time for Baby Griner to make that debut. Sending BG and Relle tons of love if so."

    "Maybe it’s baby time!!!!"

"I’d imagine this is about the birth of her son"

"I understand BG…take care of that baby!"

"I wonder if Cherelle had the baby. Either way, I hope BG is alright."

Griner, the 6-foot-9 center out of Baylor, missed the beginning of the 2024 WNBA season due to a left foot injury. Since her return, the Mercury are 5-4. The nine-time WNBA All-Star is averaging 20 points and 6.8 rebounds in 30.8 minutes per game.
