    Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Slade Cecconi.

Shohei Ohtani couldn't get it done for us on Thursday night, dropping our Look of the Day record to 13-3 in our last 16 picks. We're looking to close out the week strong and cash a bounce-back winner with our favorite pick for Friday's MLB slate.

Look of the Day: Arizona Diamondbacks @ San Diego Padres: Both teams to score 2+ runs - first 5 innings (+140 DraftKings )

Diamondbacks at Padres, 9:40 p.m. ET

The Diamondbacks are taking on the Padres in a National League West battle on Friday night, and we're getting a little creative with our favorite look for the game.

These are two starting pitchers we've been fading all season. Padres starter Randy Vasquez has the highest xBA (.334), the highest xERA (6.65) and the fourth-highest xwOBA (.393) among pitchers who have faced at least 100 batters this year. The right-hander doesn't generate many whiffs and gives up a high barrel rate (9.1 percent), which is a brutal combination for a starting pitcher in 2024. Current Diamondbacks hitters also have a .383 wOBA and a .542 xSLG against Vasquez in 33 combined plate appearances.

On the other side, D-backs starter Slade Cecconi also doesn't force many swings and misses, and he's giving up one of the highest barrel rates (11.2 percent) in the league. He's surrendered at least two earned runs in seven of his 12 starts this season, including two starts against the Padres in which he gave up six and three earned runs, respectively.

The Diamondbacks should be able to jump on Vasquez early considering they have the highest OPS (.907) and wRC+ (154) against righties over the last week. The Padres have the seventh-highest batting average (.271) and the fifth-highest wRC (26) against righties in that same span.
