Krispy Kreme giving away donuts due to global tech outage: Where to get one in Phoenix

Krispy Kreme is offering some sweet relief for the global technology outage: It's giving away free Original Glazed Doughnuts for a limited time.

The Microsoft outage, attributed to a faulty update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, caused significant disruptions affecting airlines, banks, health care facilities and public transit systems . CrowdStrike said it was not a security incident or cyberattack, and Microsoft said the underlying cause had been fixed.

Krispy Kreme announced the free-doughnut promotion on Instagram. It playfully referenced the outage, saying, "Sweet-ware update available! Does technology have you down today? Our windows are working great and so is our Hot Light."

How to get a free Krispy Kreme donut today

From 5-7 p.m. local time on Friday, July 19, customers can visit participating Krispy Kreme shops to get a free doughnut, no purchase necessary.

There is a limit of one free doughnut per customer, and you can get yours in-store or via the drive-thru.
