After 15 years, Syracuse's Say Yes to Education awards its first graduate school scholarship
Syracuse’s Say Yes to Education Program is achieving a milestone by becoming the first of its kind in the nation to offer a scholarship for graduate school. Alex Guerrero, an immigrant from Cuba, moved to Syracuse the year he started high school. This fall, he’ll head to medical school at the Upstate College of Medicine and all of his tuition and housing paid for through a $240,000 Say Yes scholarship.
Oswego High School Places First In Oswego County Envirothon
The Oswego County Legislature’s Economic Development and Planning Committee presented a certificate of recognition to students from Oswego High School as the winning team of the 32nd annual Oswego County Envirothon during the June meeting of the full Legislature. This year’s competition took place at Camp Zerbe in Williamstown. The team went on to place 10th out of 41 teams at the New York State Envirothon competition at SUNY Cortland in Cortland, N.Y. Coordinated by the Oswego County Soil and Water Conservation District, the hands-on outdoor competition tests students’ knowledge of natural resources such as aquatics, forestry, soil and land use, wildlife and current environmental issues. Tarandi Foundation announces 2024 Shah Scholars. Awardees include 14 graduating seniors from six area high schools.
OSWEGO—The Shah Family has announced its 2024 Class of Shah Scholars. This is the third year the family has worked directly with high schools in Cato-Meridian, Hannibal, Mexico, APW, and Sandy Creek. The Tarandi Foundation, working in conjunction with the Fulton Rotary Club, also awards scholarships to two students at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton, NY.
