Kingsport BMA votes to approve school system raises
At Tuesday’s meeting, the Kingsport Board of Mayor and Aldermen unanimously approved an amendment to the school system’s 2024-25 budget. The amendment would grant all Kingsport City School employees a 5% cost of living increase. The Kingsport Board of Education approved the raises at its July 9 meeting after hearing from Chief Finance Officer David Frye, who recommended increasing the raises from 1% to 5% due to the current economic conditions. The school board unanimously approved that amendment and sent it for final approval.
