River Riders stung by the long ball in Pulaski
Two three-run home runs lifted the Pulaski River Turtles over the Elizabethton River Riders on Thursday, 6-1. Elizabethton (14-23) jumped out to an early lead against Pulaski (18-18) after Jayden Lobliner (San Diego) hit a sacrifice fly to score Cadyn Karl (Kansas State). Lobliner picked up his 20th RBI of the season and had one hit on the night.

Bluff City budget increases garbage, water and sewer rates
The Town of Bluff City approved its budget for the next fiscal year Tuesday night, and while property taxes will not increase, garbage collection fees, water and sewer rates will. In addition to the 5% water/sewer rate hike, garbage collection fees in the town will be increased to $22 a month. According to Mayor Jeff Broyles, the average resident in town with both water and sewer will see an increase of less than $4. He also mentioned that online bill-paying services will be available soon, but did not specify a date.
