Grant to provide free 2024-25 lunches to all PCS students
PIQUA — Piqua Board of Education (BOE) Thursday, June 27, learned about a grant that will allow all students in the district to receive free breakfasts and lunches during the 2024-25 school year. The BOE also heard about a program that helps people in need with yard work and around their property, as well as a statement of disappointment from a Piqua City Schools (PCS) graduate, who was not selected for a teaching position, despite her experience.

Arcanum students lend a hand
ARCANUM – Arcanum-Butler Schools is getting a good summer cleaning with the help of some of its students. “They are working in the restrooms, classrooms, hallways, teacher lounge, and cafeteria, cleaning all kinds of things and doing odds and ends jobs trying to help keep our school clean and nice,” said Arcanum High School Principal Ty Cates. “We have such a beautiful facility, and it is nice that the students come back and help before some of them head off to college and make some extra money in the summer.”
Sidney High School seniors achieve top honors
Sidney High School Class of 2024 seniors were recently for their academic honors at the end of the school year. The highest honors went to 10 members of the SHS Class of 2024 who earned the Summa Cum Laude distinction, including Hayden Ball, Olivia Barga, Braxton Brewer, Emily Fleming, Brooklyn Koester, Arshia Mani, Jarrett Payne, Kyleigh Spade, Sophia Thompson and Aaron Ward.
