    Pair of Pirates prospects bound for MLB Futures game

    ARLINGTON, Texas (WKBN) – A pair of Pittsburgh Pirates prospects have been named to the National League roster for the 25th annual MLB Futures game.

    Pittsburgh pitching prospect Bubba Chandler and second-baseman Termarr Johnson will represent the Pirates at the event.

    Chandler, who was originally selected in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft, is rated as Pittsburgh’s No. 1 prospect and No. 52 overall in all of baseball, according to MLB.com.

    This season at Double-A Altoona, Chandler has posted a record of 4-5 with a 4.17 ERA. He has struck out 68 batters in 54 innings for the Curve.

    Johnson is Pittsburgh’s No. 2 rated prospect and ranked No. 77 overall in baseball, according to MLB.com.

    This season at High-A Greensboro, Johnson is batting .226 with 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.

    Johnson was Pittsburgh’s first-round draft pick in 2022, selected at No. 4 overall.

    The MLB Futures game is a seven-inning game that features baseball’s top prospects. It will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 4 p.m. at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
