Pittsburgh Steelers QB Justin Fields generates discourse after heady social media post on Instagram

When you survey the QBs around the league, few look, and move like Pittsburgh Steelers' Justin Fields.

A QB in a running back body, Fields is a brick house with a howitzer for a right arm.

He seemingly wanted to remind everyone of that with his most recent Instagram post, leading some to wonder if Pittsburgh is starting the right QB.

    Justin looking jacked

If QB competitions came down to who looks the best at the beach, Justin Fields would start for all 32 teams, there's no debating that. At 6-3, 230 pounds, and with possibly single-digit body fat, there is no signal caller in the league that is as much of a specimen as Fields.

But QB play is so much more than brawn. In fact, when you survey some of the best QBs in recent memory, (Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Patrick Mahomes) few if any were physically freakish.

Of course they all had height and weight on their side, but they never shared a physique that remotely looked like Justin Fields'. And that's not to say that being a muscle-bound QB is a bad thing, but there is a track record of those guys not always working out (pun intended).

But one reason why Fields could accomplish what other ripped QBs like Brady Quinn or Tim Tebow couldn't, or what Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis is attempting to do, is because of his flexibility.

Not once do you watch Fields and think he's stiff. Tom Brady was known for his pliability routine over his weight lifting regimen and it obviously paid dividends given the duration of his career, as being pliable allows you to brace for contact better, move better in the pocket, and just be more functional as an athlete.

Pair that with the fact that Fields is only 25 years old and the confidence he boasts about being nowhere near his ceiling and ready to compete for every opportunity , and there is reason to believe he can be a successful QB.

But that success is unlikely to come in Pittsburgh, or at least not this year if everything goes to plan . Russell Wilson is the starting QB, even if Instagram posts by Fields have fans clamoring for him to start.

But hey, showing that you're putting work in on vacation is never a bad idea.
