The Pittsburgh Steelers have insisted they won't have a quarterback competition between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields this summer. But that could always change based on performance.

Receiving an opportunity to practice with the first-team offense on the second day of training camp, Fields impressed Thursday morning. His best pass came on a connection to veteran receiver Van Jefferson down the left sideline for a touchdown.

The pass appeared to travel about 50 yards through the air.

"Wow, perfectly placed deep ball for a Van Jefferson touchdown," wrote Baku on X (formerly Twitter) as a caption to video of the deep score.

Baku's video received more than 165,000 views in the first two hours after it was posted.

Several mainstream NFL outlets, including Pro Football Focus reposted the video on their own X accounts.

Fields practiced with the Steelers top offense Thursday while Wilson sat out because of calf tightness. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin called Wilson "day-to-day."

Tomlin added, though, that "nothing has changed" with the team's quarterback depth chart. Throughout the offseason, Tomlin has expressed that Wilson has the "pole position" over Fields to begin the season as the team's starting quarterback.

The Steelers signed Wilson while they acquired Fields through a trade this offseason. Both entered training camp on a 1-year contract.
