All though the Pittsburgh Steelers have a week of training camp under their belts, it was on Tuesday that football officially returned to Latrobe.

That's because the team put on pads for the first time, giving us a chance to truly evaluate what the 2024 version of the franchise will look like.

It's safe to say that day five of camp gave us plenty of takeaways.

Rookie WR Roman Wilson Leaves Practice on a Cart

Roman Wilson was injured during Seven Shots , taking a jet sweep before being tackled awkwardly. He was attended to by the training staff before exiting practice on a cart. The severity and injury are still up in the air for now, with Head Coach Mike Tomlin telling the media that Wilson has an ankle sprain and will be evaluated in the coming days.

Russell Wilson Goes Perfect in 7 on 7

While Russell Wilson looked to be ready from the jump given his helmet and full pads, the QB didn't participate in Seven Shots and only took one rep in all of the 11 on 11 periods, which was merely a handoff.

In 7 on 7, there are obviously no linemen, and Pittsburgh figured it would be best to get him his reps there, preventing anyone from getting near his feet and legs.

But there were still defensive backs present and for Wilson to go perfect on every rep including what was called a rocket to Connor Heyward to close is a good sign.

It's safe to assume Wilson will generate more reps, including during team periods as the week progresses.

    Justin Fields Best Day Yet

Justin Fields had a first week that was inconsistent at best . The pads came on and he was anything but. Fields lead the offense to a 4-3 win in Seven Shots , including going 4-1 during his reps. He then opened the team period going three for three in completions including reportedly ripping a 20-yard out to Van Jefferson.

He would then add that highlight-worthy run above before closing out a perfect run that mirrored Russell Wilson's 7 on 7 set of throws.

Stacking days is what matters most for Fields, especially as Russell Wilson returns from injury. If the two of them can keep this up, it's going leave Mike Tomlin with a difficult decision to make come September.
