Steelers' George Pickens makes sick one-handed catch at training camp

The Pittsburgh Steelers held their first padded practice of training camp on Tuesday and wide receiver George Pickens was responsible for the play of the day.

The play came during the "seven shots" portion of practice when quarterback Justin Fields, who saw the first-team reps with Russell Wilson being limited, tossed a nice ball toward the back corner of the end zone.

While the ball was where it needed to be to avoid being in harm's way, it was still a bit out of the reach of Pickens. But the third-year wideout went full extension with his right hand and reeled in the pass without the assistance of his left.

The victim on the play was second-year cornerback Joey Porter Jr., who had pretty good coverage on the rep. But good ball placement and a great play by Pickens enabled the wide receiver-quarterback duo to complete the score.

Here's another highlight of Pickens and Porter Jr. going at it. Pickens won this one, also.

Pickens enters 2024 as the undisputed No. 1 wide receiver on the team and he's coming off a sophomore in which he tallied a career-high 1,140 yards and five scores, which is made more impressive by the fact that the Steelers had a mess under center.

Things should be better on that front in 2024 after the team added both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. If that comes to fruition, Pickens is capable of putting together a monster season.
