Harlem Book Fair returns and seeks to revolutionize

HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) — Writers and readers can find their next page turner during the Harlem Book Fair on Saturday.

Books will cover the walls of The Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for the fair. This year’s theme is focused on bringing a literary “revolution,” fitting for the neighborhood known for its renaissance movement.

Avid readers will get the chance to hear from bestselling authors such as Edwidge Danticat, Roxanne Gay, Ibi Zoboi, Dr. Ian Smith, and Sunny Hostin.

Many of these authors will also take part in a variety of panels revolving around Black history, revolutionary movements, the depiction of Black people in literature, and the experiences of writers of color.

This year the Harlem Book Fair will put a focus on bringing literary works from Haitian authors through its partnership with the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute.

Parents and kids can also find new and classic books at the fair’s first dedicated “Children’s Corner.”
