Fire Breaks Out at Vacant Property on Plainfield's East End
PLAINFIELD, NJ — At around 2:12am, the Plainfield Fire Department responded to a fire at an abandoned building located at 401 East Third Street, between Richmond Street and Roosevelt Avenue. No injuries have been reported. According to the Plainfield Fire Department, the fire escalated to a 3-alarm blaze, which requred assistance from multiple mutual aid companies. The Fire Department is completing what it calls a "search and overhaul" to ensure the safety of the building and to assess future hazards. Bridgewater Police Seeking Help Identifying Suspects in Robbery
BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Police are seeking the public's help in identifying suspects who allegedly robbed a business, according to a post on the department's Facebook page. According to police, on July 12, officers responded to a business in the township for a report of a robbery in progress. Security guard faces aggravated manslaughter charge in deadly assault at N.J. bar
A security guard at a bar has been arrested on an aggravated manslaughter charge after a man he allegedly assaulted at the establishment last summer died from his injuries. Regis Pelegrino Motas, 26, of Elizabeth, was arrested on Friday and detained at Essex County Jail, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office said Tuesday.
32-year-old motorcyclist dies in crash at N.J. intersection, police say
A motorcyclist died Tuesday night after he was involved in a crash at a Union County intersection, police said. An investigation showed that a motorcycle being driven by 32-year-old Rahway resident Justin Almenas was traveling west on Madison Hill Road in Clark shortly before 8 p.m., authorities said. WESTFIELD, NJ — Westfield firefighters responded Wednesday when a large tree on the 1300 block of East Broad Street fell, bringing down live wires that sent a surge of electricity into a house, which caused an electrical fire in the basement, Fire Chief Michael Duelks said.
