Downed Tree at Central and Stelle Avenues in Plainfield
PLAINFIELD, NJ — Conditions were windy and the sky grew dark, but Plainfield didn't receive the brunt of the stormy weather expected on Tuesday afternoon, when the entire state of New Jersey was put under a severe thunderstorm watch. Around that time, a large, old tree fell at the intersection of Stelle and Central Avenues, perhaps because of the wind. At dusk, the Plainfield Fire Department and PSE&G were on the scene, as the tree took down a utility pole. All the wires appeared to be intact.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The Plainfield Police closed the intersection to through traffic, and residents may want to avoid it in the coming hours as PSE&G finishes its work.
