A Pleasantville man was sentenced to five years of probation after admitting to unlawful possession of a handgun.

Jordani Martinez-Casiano, 25, was arrested Aug. 28, 2022, after police were called to Pizza Di Roma in Pleasantville for the report of a minor being chased by a heavily damaged Honda Accord.

Officers were able to track down the vehicle and saw a metal baseball bat that passenger Martinez-Casiano claimed was always with him. Police also saw a fixed-blade knife on the driver's side floor.

He and the driver admitted to the presence of marijuana but denied any weapons were in the vehicle, according to the report.

A K-9 sniff led to a search of the car, when police found bookbag with a Sig Sauer P245 inside. The search also recovered about 36 grams of marijuana, small heat-sealed bags, two digital scales and sandwich bags.

The driver, Jeins Colon Marrero, along with Martinez-Casiano, were both charged and arrested.

    Martinez-Casiano's guilty plea cleared Marrero.

The state argued for a three-year prison term with one year of parole ineligibility.

Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury sentenced him to probation.
