Lucy Munro Named to 2024 USA Box Lacrosse Training Roster
Lucy Munro, a standout from Northwestern, is among the 32 athletes selected for the 2024 USA Women's Box Lacrosse Training Camp. The camp, set for August 23-25 in Utica, N.Y., aims to finalize the roster for the inaugural 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships, which will take place from September 20-29, also in Utica. Head coach Ginny Capicchioni will announce the final team of 23 after the camp concludes. The U.S. team will compete against nine other nations, starting their tournament on September 20 against the Netherlands. This marks a historic moment as it is the first time World Lacrosse is hosting a women’s championship in this format.

HERKIMER — A recently enacted law that bans camping and sleeping in Herkimer village parks has been met with mixed reaction. The Herkimer Village Board met on July 31, where village officials expressed the growing concern over homeless encampments and the public safety issues surrounding them. The five-member board passed Local Law No. 6 of 2024: Prohibiting Camping or Sleeping in Village Parks unanimously.
Hamilton College welcomes new vice president for communications and marketing
CLINTON — Hamilton College has announced the appointment of Marisa Sanchez Benincasa as vice president for communications and marketing. Benincasa currently serves as executive director of institute affairs at the Arizona State University (ASU) Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. She will start at Hamilton immediately after Labor Day. Benincasa’s appointment follows an extensive national search with a pool of exceptionally experienced and talented candidates.
