NEW RELEASE: Peerless Toasted Bourbon Batch 2 Debuts Soon
Peerless Distillery (Louisville, KY) announced the upcoming release of Toasted Bourbon Batch 2, July 13 with limited distribution nationwide, 110 proof, and a $124 SRP. This release is aged in two separate oak barrels. Initially aged using standard, char level 3. Per the brand, this develops the desired flavor profiles of caramel, brown sugar, and toffee. The already barrel-aged whiskey is then placed in a toasted barrel to finish. The toasted barrel adds more complexity with honey, vanilla, toasted spices, and chocolate. This unique aging process allows for an elevated nose and palate.
Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Murder
A Louisville man accused of kidnapping his child and shooting the mother of the child to death has has been found guilty. According to a media release from the Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney, a jury found 34 year-old Christopher Lee Gordon guilty of murder, assault in the first degree, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The same jury also found Gordon guilty of being a persistent felony offender. They recommended Gordon receive a life sentence on the murder conviction.

While lead is not present in drinking water when it leaves treatment plants, the risk of it entering increases as the water moves through older pipes and plumbing fixtures in buildings. Many public schools nationwide face this risk due to their aging infrastructure, as illustrated in a 2023 investigation of the 7,758 school water systems regulated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency which showed that 77% of test samples taken had some level of lead contamination.

Game recap: Mud Hens drop both games of doubleheader to Louisville
The Toledo Mud Hens suffered a doubleheader sweep against the Louisville Bats on Friday night at Fifth Third Field. Mud Hens starter Matt Manning pitched a gem in the first game, going five hitless innings, but Toledo fell 4-2 in extra innings. The Bats used a four-run fourth inning to break open the second game on the way to a 6-5 win. Manning walked three and struck out five in his five innings of work and exited after 87 pitches with a 1-0 lead. Toledo reliever Mason Englert gave up a run in relief and the game headed to extra innings. After both teams failed to score in the eighth inning, Louisville scored three runs in the top of the ninth off Mud Hens reliever Devin Sweet. In the second game, the Mud Hens fell behind 6-1 after the Bats scored four fourth-inning runs. Toledo battled back to within one run at 6-5 after three runs in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth. But that was as close as they would get.
