Fundraiser started for family of 19-year-old killed at Bellamy Place apartments
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The family of a 19-year-old boy killed in an apartment shooting Tuesday night is asking for information that could help lead to an arrest. Officers arrived to an apartment complex on Bellamy Place in the Algonquin neighborhood just after midnight Tuesday and found Tayshawn Thomas had been shot inside one of the units. He died from his injuries before he could be taken to the hospital.

UofL School of Medicine announces new dean
Dr. Jeffrey R. Bumpous has been named new executive vice president of health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Louisville. Bumpous, an otolaryngologist (head and neck surgeon), has served as UofL’s interim dean of the School of Medicine and vice president of academic medical affairs since June 2023. He earned his medical degree at UofL and has been a faculty member since 1994. He is the J. Samuel Bumgardner Professor and chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Communicative Disorders and is an associate clinical director at UofL Health—Brown Cancer Center.

Man Injured When Hit By Train
Police said a man is in the hospital after he was hit by a train Friday morning in the Shelby Park neighborhood. Around 11 a.m., officers responded to the area of East Kentucky Street and Logan Street after reports of someone being hit by a train. Officers found a man who had been hit and provided first aid before he was taken to the hospital.

Metro Council members urge witnesses from H2O Lounge shooting to come forward

On Friday, some Metro Council members are calling on the public to help investigators catch the shooter. Council members Jacorey Arthur, Donna Purvis, and Tammy Hawkins begged for witnesses from last weekend’s shooting to come forward and pushed for more police presence in the area.
