A Denham Springs police officer who was struck by a vehicle is expected to make a full recovery, the department said. Cpl. Brandon Ashton was on foot trying to make contact with another person on foot on Interstate 12 eastbound near mile marker 14, the department said Friday. During the chase, the fleeing person ran into traffic, and Ashton was struck by a vehicle attempting to avoid the person.
