Baton Rouge animal shelter waives adoption fees for sheltered pets for national campaign
BATON ROUGE — Pet adoptions were free all week for animals from the Companion Animal Alliance in Baton Rouge. CAA waived adoption fees for spayed and neutered shelter animals in partnership with Bissell Pet Foundation's national campaign, "Empty The Shelter" week. Sunday was the last day of the event where people could have their fees waved.

Baton Rouge rapper Boosie's gun charge dropped after recent ruling on felon firearm laws
A federal judge dismissed a gun charge against Baton Rouge rapper Torence "Boosie" Hatch, court records show. Hatch, who formally rapped under the name "Lil Boosie" and also raps under the name "Boosie Badazz," was charged in San Diego with being a felon in possession of a firearm in June 2023 after being arrested during a traffic stop.
