PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A woman was allegedly stabbed by her boyfriend in North Portland on Friday night, leading to two men being shot by a neighbor who was trying to retrieve the victim’s dog.

Just after 9 p.m., officers responded to the 6600 block of North Fessenden Street on reports of a stabbing.

On arrival, they found a woman who claimed her boyfriend had stabbed her in the arm several times. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unsuccessful. The victim then went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.

Around an hour and half later, officers responded to the same area on reports of a shooting.

They soon learned a neighbor had tried to retrieve the stabbing victim’s dog, but was confronted by the stabbing suspect. According to the neighbor, the suspect had approached her with a knife and she shot him, while also accidentally hitting her boyfriend.

Police say both men were taken to the hospital with “serious, but non life-threatening injuries.”

The woman who shot both men is cooperating with the investigation, which is still ongoing, authorities say.

No further information has been released at this time.
