The Northern Arizona Wranglers of the Indoor Football League are mourning the loss of assistant coach Dave Moran, who died Monday night after collapsing at the team's arena in Prescott Valley a few days earlier.

Moran was the team's defensive coordinator and special teams coach, and had been with the Wranglers for four seasons.

He collapsed prior to the team's game Saturday at Findlay Toyota Center, where he was immediately tended to by team personnel until paramedics arrived. He died Monday evening, according to a statement from the team posted on its Facebook page. The statement did not specify a cause of death.

"Coach Moran's impact on our lives cannot be overstated,'' said Fred DePalma, team owner and president in the statement. "His passion for the game and his unwavering belief in his players' abilities pushed them to be better on and off the field. He taught all the values of teamwork, resilience and never giving up.''

San Antonio Gunslingers' head coach Thomas Menas reached out in a social media post that appeared on the Wranglers' Facebook page:

''Tonight I ask everyone to say a prayer for Coach Moran and his family of the Northern Arizona Wranglers,'' Menas said. "We are a small fraternity of coach's in the IFL, we compete, fight, argue and above all else respect and truly care about each other. This is a moment not about sport, but rather about the brotherhood we share, when one hurts we all hurt.''

Moran graduated from Prescott Valley's Bradshaw Mountain High School in 2006. He was a quarterback on the football team there, and later returned to coach them in 2014, according to the Arizona Interscholastic Association. He played for Oregon State and then Northern Arizona in college.

The Arizona Rattlers and the IFL both posted a statement son their social media outlets extending their sympathies on Moran's passing as well.

The Wranglers (8-5, fifth in the IFL West), lost Saturday's game to the San Diego Strike Force, 57-43. They next play Sunday at the Bay Area Panthers.
