Campus Art Installation Series Begins this Fall
This fall, Montserrat Galleries inaugurates a series of site-responsive commissions for Montserrat’s Hardie Building featuring projects by Montserrat alumni and local artists. The first in the series is an installation for Hardie’s iconic arched front windows by the Boston-based artist, Loretta Park. An interdisciplinary artist, Park incorporates weaving and fiber-art techniques with an array of everyday objects to create colorful and tactile sculptures. Park will build on these conceptual and material foundations to create a cascading sculpture that interplays with light and color. Woven pieces of rope and plastic chains will intentionally disrupt the window’s natural light, creating shadows of varied shades and shapes. At the same time, brightly colored marbles, sea glass, and translucent fabrics will amplify, refract and soften the light, allowing it to illuminate the interior of the building in varying ways.

This New England State Gets The Most Lightning In The Region
Summertime and the living is easy. The weather can be rough, especially if you don't like heat and humidity – and then there are the summer thunderstorms. All of it beats winter cold and snow, as far as I am concerned. New Bedford has the record for the hottest...
Patriots announce release of rookie defensive back
The New England Patriots announced the release of rookie free agent cornerback Kaleb Ford-Dement on Friday. Ford-Dement was one of nine rookie free agents signed by the Patriots back in May. He bounced around at Old Dominion, Washington State and Texas State in college. His best year came at Texas State when he had 21 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass deflections. It was always going to be an uphill battle for him in New England given the bevy of talent in the defensive backfield. The depth chart is topped by Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones. There are also versatile players capable of contributing at cornerback and special teams, including guys like Isaiah Bolden and rookie Marcellas Dial Jr. The Patriots now have two open spots on their roster after releasing Ford-Dement and linebacker Jontrey Hunter on Monday.

You May Be Breaking Some of These Massachusetts Laws Without Knowing It
Massachusetts seems to have a law for everything and while it makes sense for some things others are just strange. As we all know the 4th of July recently passed and Massachusetts is the only state that has a law against consumer fireworks including buying, selling, and using. Some folks agree with this law while others think it's complete nonsense. In addition, this law doesn't seem to be enforced in Massachusetts at least not in my area. So, why even have the law if it's not being enforced? Either way, the law is the law.
