(PUEBLO, Colo.) — The Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Pueblo Police Department (PPD) announced the arrest of an armed fugitive following a brief standoff in Pueblo Tuesday afternoon, July 9.

According to the CBI, on Tuesday, the PPD Investigations Section got a tip that 36-year-old Robert Jareth Pierce, who was wanted on multiple felony warrants from several counties across the state of Colorado, was at a storage facility on Pueblo’s south side. Pierce’s warrants were for weapons offenses, narcotics violations, and several instances of vehicular eluding. Pierce was described by police as armed and dangerous.

PPD Detectives started surveillance of the storage facility and called for the help of the CBI, at which point detectives and agents were able to confirm Pierce was at the storage units. PPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) were called due to what CBI said was Pierce’s “known propensity for violence.”

CBI said after a brief standoff, Pierce was arrested and was allegedly armed at the time of his arrest. He was taken to the Pueblo County Jail and has been booked on his outstanding warrants.
