With the 2024-25 Colorado high school football season inching closer every day, there's no better time for local fanbases to make some bold predictions for Pueblo-area football teams.

This fan vote is all about wins and losses. Who do you think will end the season with the best record out of Pueblo football teams?

Chieftain readers can now vote for their favorite high school football team at the newspaper's website, chieftain.com. The poll is located at the bottom of this article and closes on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024, just before the new season begins.

There are no voting restrictions, so vote now and vote often.

Here is a look back at last year's season for each team:

    Pueblo Central

The Wildcats finished with a 9-2 record overall and went 5-0 in league play. They hosted a playoff game for the first time in over a decade, but ultimately lost in the first round of the playoffs to Northfield High School. Running back Amari Brown looks to be one of the top backs in the state this year.

    Pueblo Centennial

The Bulldogs finished with their worst record in school history, going 0-10 and 0-5 in league play. They will try to turn it around this coming season with a new set of talented young players. Those younger players will look up to some of the team's returning starters like Ricky Cordova and Joshua Trujillo.

    Pueblo South

The Colts finished with a respectable 5-5 record last season, including 3-2 in league action. They were young last year but will be returning with a lot of juniors which should bode well for them. Offensively, the Colts were led by junior quarterback Caeden Herrera and junior running back Chace Hurley.

    Pueblo East

The Eagles had a tough year due to injuries and finished with a 4-5 record overall, but were 3-1 in league play. They will have some explosive playmakers like Pocky Amaro and Izaiah Trujillo returning this season which should cause problems for defenses across the state.

    Pueblo County

The Hornets finished with a solid 5-4 record overall and were 2-2 in league play last year. The team missed out on the playoffs but will look to change their fortune this year with some solid play on both offense and defense. Quarterback Cohen Glen will look to solidify himself as one of the top QBs in the city.

    Pueblo West

The Cyclones had a 7-5 record overall last year and a 2-2 record in league action. They made the playoffs and won their first-round matchup 55-42 over Longmont, but would lose in the second round against Montrose. Quarterback Gavin Lockett will look to build upon the impressive start he's had to his career both in the air and on the ground.

    Rye High School

The Thunderbolts had a good year offensively and finished with a record of 6-3 overall and 3-2 in league action. The team narrowly missed out on the playoffs due to strength of schedule and RPI positioning. The team will look to fill the void of losing Dylan Hurne to graduation with a mix of different skill players.

    Dolores Huerta

The Scorpions had a down year in 2023, going 2-7 overall and 1-4 in league play. They are hoping with another season under their belt with head coach Tom Grasmick they will develop and grow as a unit. The team has lost a lot of veteran leadership from last season but is also returning a good core of players like Jose Rubio.
